| Appearance Properties |
| Pure glutaraldehyde is a colorless and transparent oily liquid, easily soluble in water and organic solvents such as ether and ethanol. It decomposes at a melting point of -14°C and a boiling point of 188°C. Its refractive index (25°C) is 1.433 0, and it is not flammable. The relative density of 25% glutaraldehyde aqueous solution is 1.066 (20°C), the melting point is -5.8°C, and the boiling point is 101°C, which is highly irritating. Aromatic, lively, volatile, polymerized and oxidized. It can be cross-linked with protein and used for tanning leather to obtain finished leather with excellent washing and perspiration resistance. |
